To stroll in the evening between the picturesque lanes of Modica is, in fact, particularly exciting.
Our driver will take you into the lower part of town, where you can see the two mother churches declared World Heritage by UNESCO: the Cattedrale di San Giorgio – located in the upper part of the town. This church was built in the 12th century, later destroyed by the 1693 earthquake and rebuilt in the Baroque and neoclassical style. It is approached by wide steps which give it a majestic position – and the Cattedrale di San Pietro. The beauty of the Duomo di San Pietro is given by its magnificent staircase leading to its entrance, where statues of the 12 Apostles stand on raised pedestals. The Church is located in the main street called Corso Umberto where you will find many shops, bars and bakeries. Here you can taste and buy the famous chocolate of Modica.
Our walk ends with a stop at the famous Belvedere. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the town.
This tour, along with the others which belong to the “Typical week for the tourist”, is always available. The aim is to enable visitors to choose a tour for every day of their stay.
